It’s always a treat to get out and golf in New Hampshire  –  and last weekend was no exception.  With a slight breeze and temperatures in the mid 70’s,  Matt and I couldn’t have asked for a better day as we headed up I-89 to The Country Club of New Hampshire.

Named one of the top 75 public golf courses in the US,  this quaint little stay and play has everything you’d want for a weekend getaway.  The locals love it,  too.  Bryan Doyle,  General Manager,  told us the course was built in the 1930’s by renowned architect William Mitchell,  and is often described as  ‘a real gem’.  They have lots of great programs and leagues,  including a Sunday afternoon special for families where kids play free with their parents after 2:00 pm.

Every golf course has it’s own,  unique personality.  What I liked most about this course was how easygoing and friendly the people were.  Every golfer we talked to was having a great time,  the staff was helpful,  and the beverage cart was always nearby.  This,  along with stellar views of Mount Kearsarge and the surrounding foothills,  is what makes the Country Club of New Hampshire one of those  ‘must play’  New England courses.

Matt,  Nicole,  Eric,  and Ross teed off in the early afternoon.  The course was packed  –  but the pace of play was fantastic  –  so we were able to finish a full round in just a little over 4 hours.

Nicole,  Eric,  and Ross teamed up against Matt for a game of match play.  It came down to the wire,  but Matt won by one  –  even without his putter.  After our round,  we stopped in to the lounge for a few drinks and an appetizer before heading home.  I recommend the nachos with a side of guacamole.  They’re delicious!

Whether you’re there for a day or staying for the weekend,  The Country Club of New Hampshire is a premium golf experience you’re guaranteed to enjoy.   With friendly people,  amazing views,  and great food,  how could you not?!
