Round Eight: Vacation Golf!

There’s nothing better for a New England golfer than the excitement of heading South in the middle of winter.  What a treat to be able to pull out golf skirts and sunglasses while the rest of the world is buried under a few feet of snow.

Imagine shaking off the winter blues with a beautiful 80 degree day on a lovely Florida golf course!

That’s exactly what Matt and I did this year to keep our spirits up and our golf game fresh.

We ended up in Brooksville.  It’s just an hour north of Tampa  –   and keeping true to great golf in Florida  –   it’s home to several fantastic golf courses.

One of the courses we checked out was Brooksville Country Club.  This course has a nice,  family friendly atmosphere with an excellent practice facility.  It has a decent sized driving range,  a well kept bunker and chipping area,  and a challenging putting green  –  all designed to help you fine tune your golf game before heading out on the course.

Brooksville Country Club was a welcoming place to practice.   Even my mom was able to get out and have a blast!

Matt and I spent a few days here relaxing,  dusting off our clubs,  and warming up our game before heading out on their course.

Brooksville Country Club boasts two quarry holes on their back nine that make this golf course worth playing.  They’re gorgeous!

I had a fun round with Matt  –  soaking up the sun and enjoying nature while continuing to learn and appreciate the elegant game of golf.

If you’re a New Englander looking for a great way to escape the cold,  grab your golf clubs and head down to the Tampa area of Florida!  You won’t be disappointed.  The golf here is amazing…
