This week Matt and I headed over to Ponemah Green in Amherst, NH. Ponemah Green is a 9 hole executive golf course connected to Amherst Country Club. The first thing I noticed when we arrived was the practice facility.
They have a full driving range, practice green, bunker area… and mini-golf! So yes, Ponemah Green really does have a little something for every type of golfer.

Maurica Smith, Golf Professional and Operations Manager at Ponemah Green, joined us on the first tee – giving us some pointers before sending us out on the course. Her advice on lining up our bodies before each shot was great – helping our group finish with at +3 for the day.

I really liked the length of this course. Often times, as a woman golfer, my first two shots on every hole need to be crushed if I want any hope of reaching the green in regulation.

I didn’t feel like that as I played through this round. I was able to focus on course management and game strategy throughout the course. Even if I fell short on some of my shots, it was still possible for me to put myself in birdie situations. This was true for the other three ladies in our group as well.

Mary, Lisa, Sue and I played a modified scramble. We used the best tee shot on each hole and played our own ball up to the green from there. We were all able to pull off some really nice shots – and I was impressed with our short game.
We had a blast playing this course! I’m already looking forward to my next round at Ponemah Green…
Thank you Mary, Lisa, and Sue for golfing with us. And a very special thank you to Maurica Smith for having us out on her course.
